Michelin Manages Your Tires
Michelin has developed a service called Ton-Kilometer (TK), which consists of taking over management of the tires on big mining machines over the tire’s entire service life. This Business Model includes the supply, delivery, fitting, removal, maintenance and repair of the tires used in mine working and intensive advice on how tires can play a part in maximizing the mine’s production.
Payment is proportional to the tire’s productive contribution to extraction, using the basic unit of the Ton-Kilometer on which is applied a unit price. It is therefore a factor* which quantifies the work effectively done by the tire over a defined period.
Improvements in productivity gained thanks Michelin’s involvement can be shared between the parties: the Mine, Michelin and the Service Provider.
* Invoicing by ton-kilometer is however made possible by Michelin taking full-time control on the ground of the main quantifiable factors which have an effect on the productivity of tires (slope, bend, width, TKPH, charge).
