Productivity in the harshest of conditions!
Machines are faced with the most extreme working conditions in underground mines. The risks to both man and machine render the work extremely difficult. To stand up to fallen rock debris, flooding, and heat encountered in the extraction of underground minerals, tires must be reliable in the most extreme conditions. They also have to be able to withstand greater loads to keep pace with the demands of increased productivity.
In such an environment, downtime of a machine has multiple consequences. The time it takes to replace a tire in an underground mine may result in the loss of production. In addition, safety has to always be a consideration given the nature of this work. Mindful of these demands, Michelin has developed a hi-tech tire range, capable of greater resistance to these extreme conditions and strains of carrying even more load.
New technologies to boost productivity!
With the new MICHELIN Pro line of underground mining tires, Michelin has introduced NRF technology to improve agresssion resistance. This includes:
- 2 extra plies added to tire construction which contain crossed nylon cords encased in rubber for greater resistance & toughness
- New cables in the working plies for more aggression resistance and protection against oxidation
